Eye Candy Friday: All Dried Up

You may have noticed from my last Eye Candy Friday post that I don’t necessarily follow traditional ideas of beautiful. I find beauty in alot of things. Spiders and death being my most recent examples.

While this is a pretty picture, alot of people wouldn’t say an almost dead flower is a good example of what is beautiful in the world. Perhaps taking away the components of what make us consider this sad or depressing and just looking at it objectively makes all the difference.
The colors are all still beautiful. The way the petals droop and shrivel is just as graceful as the way they would blow in a breeze. The delicate contrast of the yellow and green is striking. The subtle oranges of the container compliment the orange lowlights of the flower.

What do you think?

  1. I don’t think it’s ugly, either. The colors are still vibrant. It’s at a stage similar to autumn leaves, and no one calls them ugly. Add to your list of why it’s beautiful — a wilting sunflower indicates that the seeds in its head are mature, and can be planted next year to create new sunflowers, or feed the birds (and/or you and I) this fall.

Sing along with me now, “…it’s the circle of life…”.
